Clinical Consultation
practical growth and consulting on complex topics of client care
The world of therapy remains primarily cishet, neuronormative, white and affluent. While training programs are improving at bringing in intersectional, social justice informed practices, there continues to be a significant amount of unlearning that needs to be done after our education formally ends.
I would like to be a support colleagues in this work of unlearning, and provide a judgement-free space to be with the difficult emotions of recognizing and addressing the ways in which we have recreated systemic systems and biases within ourselves, our practices, and the subsequent harm we have done.
Doing this inner work helps clinicians to create a space where all clients are safe and respected, to be able to provide culturally-appropriate care or refer to those who can provide that care. I am not saying I have this all figured out, and my learning has come from colleagues, mentors, authors, activists, organizers, and more with lived experience of various types of oppression, including race, size, ability, gender, sexuality, neurotype, immigration status, and more. I am continuing to do my own work to learn and unlearn, and committed to continue as a life-long learner who recognizes this work is never done.
